Heated YURT FOR RENT- 4 Seasons
Loomis Lair
Named by the Huffington Post as:
A Top "Glamping" spot in New York.
*Luxury Camping*
"While the great outdoors is lovely, there are a lot of drawbacks to camping:
bugs, sleeping on the hard ground, snakes, pooping in the woods, bears.
There's no reason to wake to a slithery friend, covered in skeeter bites
with so many great glamping options around.
Herewith, our favorite yurts, safari tents, cabins, and chalets ready to
provide a barrier between you and Mother Nature."
Loomis Lair
"Who knows what you'll find while exploring the Nine Mile Swamp, the location of Loomis Lair's yurts.
The picturesque setting is named after The Loomis Gang, the largest organized crime family
in 19th century America, who used to preside here. Spooky!"

While I do not care for the word "Glamping", I will not complain
about the free press recieved from the Huffington Post. Thank You!

4 season "Glamping" escape!
* "Luxury Camping"-No more sleeping on damp, hard ground. No more waking up mosquito-bitten. Designed for those who want to relax and enjoy nature without being sequestered in a sanitized new-agey spa, this yurt combines natural solitude with the sort of amenities you might find at a nice motel: It's more expensive than a campground, but more and more travelers are willing to pay hotel rates to get a little comfort and convenience with their fresh air. Even if the closest you've ever come to being outdoorsy is wearing a fleece vest, luxury camping puts nature within reach.
Heated with bathroom and shower facilities within!

We left a natural disaster area (floods in Schoharie County, NY), our eyes full of mud brown, slimey, stinking of fuel oil, people walking around in a state of shock at losing everything material. Was here (Loomis Lair) that our eyes look at green - and yellow and purple flowers; our souls and hearts refreshed with what is truly important. Tomorrow, we go back to that: to help others try to rebuild and clean away the filth. This place has done for us just that. Peace.
"Little did I know when I planned this trip, how much we would need it. Your yurt had perfect timing for completion for respite of our souls. Thank you for sharing your little piece of God's perfection in Nature. Your kindness + people skills will take you far. God's blessings as you continue your journey. We will return and next time venture off your property (local attractions). God's Peace."

Thank you for providing us with such a mememorable experience.
The accomodations could not have been more peaceful, the property is beautiful and we really appreciated your attention to detail. Everything we could have needed was here. We will definately recommend the Yurt to our friends and wish you continued success at this location. We feel priviliged to be among the first of no doubt many future visitors here at Loomis Lair. Thanks again for the outstanding service, especially in helping us to get here, it will not be forgotten.

In no particular order: * We were going to arrive late and were even later than that, but Michael kept in touch and met us at the driveway with a flashlight, showed us around, and made us feel very welcome, al at once. * Hike to the top of the mountain. It doesn't take long and the view is spectacular. * There's nothing like some morning coffee on the yurt deck, watching the mist rise from the swampy valley. * I'd never seen, much less entered, a yurt before, and thus had no expectations. It is a tidy, cozy, efficient place, great for our short stay but also easy to imagine as a place for a long visit. In fact, the manufacturer makes larger variations that seem perfect for the brick and mortar averse. * Cooperstown is only a short drive away. * Read up on the Loomis history before or while there - it's very interesting and gave me a whole new level of appreciation of both the area and of Michael's thoroughness. * It is definitely one of a kind - I highly recommend a visit, and myself intend to return one day.
Baltimore, MD.
This is our 2nd stay with Michael on his gorgeous property. Even better than our first visit. We were traveling back & forth to Syracuse and this was a great place to unwind, do some star-gazing and birdwatching, pick wildflowers and spy on the nine deer in the field below us. So relaxing. Michael is a wonderful host and his property is lovely. We can't wait to go back again!
